Our History
KORTC's activities began in 1993 as our community was beginning to see a lot of action in developing trails. Many of the trails we enjoy today were developed or improved during this period through the Trails Ketchikan project, including Coast Guard Beach, Dude Mt, Waterfront Promenade, Rainbird, Minerva Mt, Lunch Creek, and Silvis/Mohoney Mt. KORTC was indeed a coalition of local, State and Federal Agencies in cooperation with the Ketchikan Community.
In 1998 oday KORTC's focus continues to be on the maintenance, improvement and development of outdoor recreation opportunities, as well as the education and facilitation of outdoor activities. We continue to work with governmental agencies, trail users and outdoor groups to ensure Ketchikan's Residents have greater access to these amazing opportunities for adventure, health and connection to community and these lands.
